Kitchen Tour:
At SBIHM College, visitors are treated to a comprehensive tour of the culinary facilities, featuring four distinct kitchens. Among these are two main kitchens, a Garde-Manger (Pantry), and a fully equipped Bakery. These kitchens are not just spaces for cooking, but vibrant hubs of learning and creativity.
Each kitchen is a careful blend of modern convenience and traditional charm. Despite the presence of state-of-the-art appliances like three large refrigerators in each kitchen and spacious ovens in the bakery lab, the kitchens also feature an array of traditional utensils. These utensils, thoughtfully organized, serve as a reminder of the timeless culinary techniques that form the foundation of the culinary arts.
Stepping into these kitchens, one is immediately struck by the interplay of colors and the abundance of natural light streaming in through east-facing windows. The spacious layout, measuring 12×17 feet, provides ample room for students to move around and collaborate. A central island serves as a focal point for storing appliances, ensuring easy access to necessary tools and equipment.
Moreover, the design of the kitchens prioritizes both functionality and aesthetics. Refrigerators and cabinets line one end of the kitchen, offering plenty of storage space for ingredients and supplies. At the opposite end, a utility area equipped with washing facilities, a washer, dryer, and dishwasher, ensures that the practical needs of food preparation and cleanup are met efficiently.
The tour not only showcases the physical aspects of the kitchens but also highlights the vibrant energy and sense of community that permeates these spaces. Students are encouraged to explore their creativity and hone their culinary skills under the guidance of experienced instructors. It’s not just about cooking; it’s about fostering a passion for food and instilling a sense of pride in culinary craftsmanship.

Descending into underground cellars, they are immersed in an atmosphere steeped in tradition and history, gaining a newfound appreciation for the craftsmanship and dedication that defines the art of whisky making.
